A Small Delay

Unfortunately, everything takes longer than expected and my home shop, which is really my garage, is still under construction. I have posted some of the construction pictures below that you can sift through, but stay tuned because in the future this webpage will be a repository of all the tools that I have both made and bought.

  Dedicated Space

For my first year of making YouTube videos, I built my projects and filmed them all in the room that I slept. Yes, I shared my bedroom with a CNC router, multiple 3D printers, and a robotic arm. Let’s just say that you had to walk gingerly across my bedroom floor in fear of stepping on a snipped wire or support material from a 3D print. You can check out my old room in this tour I did in 2017. Fast forward to today, the shared house I am in has a garage! I moved quickly to claim this garage as my workshop, but there were a couple problems:

  1. Insufficient light (only one fluorescent light fixture and no windows)
  2. Only one electrical outlet (a measly 15A circuit)
  3. Cinder block walls (very difficult to anchor anything to cinder block)

To address these problems, I went in and framed out both cinderblock walls and added lights, three 20A electrical circuits (7 plugs!!), and a 220V outlet for some of the bigger machines that I am working on. If you have built any kind of wall then you will know that the framing and drywall hanging go by quickly, but the mudding process which makes the transition from one sheet of drywall to the next is a total pain in the butt. However, the additional outlets and the ability to hang pegboards and cabinets on the wall have definitely made this small garage renovation worth the cost and effort.

While this garage is much larger than my last work space, I have quickly found a way to fill it with stuff. I guess more space means more junk… I am in the process of procuring cabinets and drawers to stay better organized.
